ManStat allows you to adjust various settings and title choices that are used, such as the prefix number for data entered in specific localities, the reference name for client or contacts, and passwords that define access to the database. In this way, you can modify ManStat to best suit your own requirements.
In order to adjust these settings, click on the '>' button on the ManStat login window. This will take you to the ManStat login ODBC options window. Click on the ini file open button to open the ManStat ini file. You will also note that many options can be changed directly from the ODBC options window without the need to edit the ini file directly.
Settings will be grouped under program names. Scroll down until the settings for ManStat Enterprise are displayed. (These settings will appear beneath the heading "[ManStat]".
The Application Directory setting, the Datasource setting and the Database setting should not require adjustment by you. These settings will have been defined when your version of ManStat was installed. The Local State setting controls a default for the address of all new contact entries. This setting will govern the default for state abbreviations and, depending upon your version of ManStat, the default postcode. For example, if you entered "NSW" in this setting, ManStat will default to NSW in the State field for all new contact address entries.
The Control Code setting will define the numerical prefix for all codes generated by your particular computer for all the ManStat functions. Depending upon your version of ManStat, your computer may not be permanently on line with a main database for your organisation. In order to prevent the accidental duplicating of codes within ManStat when there is not a permanent connection between operators, ManStat allows different computers to allocate specific batches of codes for all ManStat functions. The Control Code setting allows you to specify the code numbers to be used by this particular computer. Simply enter the code for your particular locality, for example "QLD" or "NSW".
The Contact Title setting controls the term used to describe contacts within ManStat. For example, if you entered "customer" in this setting then ManStat will refer to all contacts as "customers" in all the various functions within ManStat.
The Username and Password settings are used by this particular installation of ManStat when going online to the data source that is defined in the Datasource setting. Depending upon your version of ManStat, different installations of ManStat may have different levels of access to the database. The user name and the password that are entered in these fields will dictate the level of access this installation of ManStat has to the database being used.
Although your version of ManStat has in-built security functions that can be used to limit an operator's access, security management at the database level allows your organisation to implement even more secure operational procedures. For more information on the security functions within ManStat, please refer to the Help chapters entitled "Operator Security Functions".
The Login Name setting and the Login Password setting are used by this version of ManStat to allow access. When an operator initialises ManStat, they will be asked to supply a login name and password. ManStat uses these settings to identify the user. The HideDisabledItems entry causes all menu items to which the operator does not have security access to be hidden from the user's menus. This means that they do not see menu items to which they do not have security access.
